Amit Shah recovers after post-COVID care, discharged from AIIMS
Amit Shah recovers: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi on August 18 for post-COVID care, has been discharged from the hospital. Shah reached his residence on Monday morning. Earlier on Saturday, authorities at AIIMS had said the Union Minister has recovered and is likely to be discharged in a short time.
“Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, is admitted at AIIMS, New Delhi for post-COVID care. He has recovered and is likely to be discharged in a short time,” the AIIMS said in a statement.
On August 2, the 55-year-old had taken to Twitter to announce that he had tested positive for Covid-19. He had undergone treatment for the coronavirus infection at Medanta Hospital and was discharged after he tested negative for the disease.
Amit Shah was the first Union cabinet minister to test positive for coronavirus. Since then, four other Union ministers have tested positive in India with Ayush minister Shripad Naik being the latest.
Prior to testing positive, the home minister was attending his office in the North Block regularly, besides working from home. The last known public function which Amit Shah attended was at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) where he addressed a webinar on the occasion of the 100th death anniversary of Bal Gangadhar Tilak.
Shah, 55, was earlier discharged from Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after testing negative for the coronavirus disease.
He had announced his health status on Twitter after testing positive for the virus and urged those who came in contact with him in recent days to isolate themselves and get tested.
“After showing initial symptoms, I underwent a test for coronavirus and the report came out positive. My health is fine but I am being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors,” Shah had posted on the microblogging site.
Amit Shah also greeted people on the occasion of Onam, hoping that the festival would bring harmony, good health, and prosperity. “Warm greetings on the auspicious occasion of Onam. May this festival bring joy, harmony, good health, and prosperity in everyone’s lives. Happy Onam!” Shah tweeted.
