Amazon Fresh Store: Amazon India launches Amazon Fresh store with 2-hour delivery

Amazon Fresh Store: Amazon has brought its online grocery store – Amazon Fresh – to India, which will deliver fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy and meat items and other packaged food items to customers in two hours flat. The move comes at a time when competition in the online food and grocery space is heating up with rival Walmart-backed Flipkart also eyeing a space in the market.

Amazon India has launched Amazon Fresh store, a 2-hour grocery delivery of daily essentials on Amazon.in for select pin-codes in Bengaluru.

“With Amazon Fresh, customers can experience the convenience and speed of ordering daily essentials on Amazon.in. Now, customers can order the freshest fruits and vegetables as well as everyday grocery and get it within 2 hours,” said Siddharth Nambiar, director of category management at Amazon India.

All customers get convenient 2-hour delivery slots from 6 AM to midnight with free delivery for orders above Rs 600. Orders below Rs 600 will be charged a delivery fee of Rs 29.

These ultrafast deliveries are powered by Amazon’s Prime Now service which was earlier available only on the separate Prime Now app. The Prime Now app will continue to serve customers in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

With the launch of Fresh, Amazon is looking to open up the service to its entire userbase in the cities where it is launching. The company is said to have over the last year put in place the supply chain that is required to do hyperlocal deliveries and also for storage of perishable items.
